Job description

Are you a motivated and talented Fashion Designer/Product Developer eager to contribute to a growing Australian Fashion brand?

Alexandra Australia invites you to be a part of our dynamic team as we redefine fashion with a commitment to timeless style, conscious development, and ethical practices.

About Us:

At Alexandra Australia, we transcend the boundaries of a women's lifestyle brand. Our journey, grounded in the belief that women should never compromise comfort for style, began six years ago. What sets us apart is our dedication to timeless style, prioritising natural fabrics, and fostering strong relationships with responsible and ethical manufacturers—a true statement of our values.

The Role:

As a Designer/Product Developer, you will collaborate with the Founder/Creative Director to create various products across our womenswear collections. The role is currently part-time with the opportunity to grow into a full time role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching and identifying key trends, items, colours, and styling for the season.
  • Creating storyboards to convey mood, concept, or theme.
  • Presenting trend reports for new season development.
  • Developing seasonal products true to the brand, focusing on women's t-shirts, dresses, pants, denim, knitwear, and jackets.
  • Sourcing fabrics, trims, and unique, on-brand yardage prints.
  • Creating garment sketches (CADs) with construction details.
  • Preparing tech packs for sourcing (Bill of Materials).
  • Liaising with suppliers throughout development and production.
  • Ensuring sample and fit approval to meet quality standards.
  • Collaborating with the Founder to identify growth opportunities within each category.
  • Adhering to budgeting requirements and targets.
  • Achieving high sell-through results on products.
  • Working to a critical path timeline.
  • Maintaining a strong awareness of competitors and the marketplace.

To Be Successful, You Will Have:

  • Qualifications and 3+ years' experience in a Designer/Product Development role for a womenswear fashion brand.
  • Reliability, efficiency, and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised or collaboratively within a team.
  • Thorough knowledge of woven and knit fabrics, and true knit garments.
  • Strong, versatile design and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for CAD drawings and some graphic design.
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and be self-managed.
  • A passion for fashion and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model of offsite and onsite in the Gold Coast office.

WHY JOIN THE ALEXANDRA TEAM?

  • Flexible / Hybrid working environment
  • Collaborative team culture
  • Generous Staff Discount
  • Clean and modern working space
  • Close to public transportation
