Roxby Downs is a mining town in outback South Australia and is often referred to as the most ‘modern town of the outback’!  About 15km north is the mine site of Olympic Dam. 

Olympic Dam is one of the world’s most significant deposits of copper, gold, silver, and uranium.  BHP operates underground and surface operations including a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.

The Position

We are looking for experienced Chefs and Cooks accustomed to high volume buffet-style kitchens.  With villages in Roxby Downs and Olympic Dam, we require top chefs to keep the mining professionals happy, healthy and working hard. To be successful, you will understand the latest trends and healthy eating principles and be passionate about producing great food.

Key Duties

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals across breakfast, lunch, and dinner for residents and guests
• Provide exceptional service when interacting with our staff, residents, and guests
• Maintain food safety standards in line with company policies
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to create “special food offers” outside the regular menu cycle
• Manage the expectations of both clients and diners

The Person

The successful candidate will have experience working in a high volume, buffet-style kitchen. In addition, you have to have:

• Chef Trade Certificate/Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Passion for providing exceptional customer service
• Ability to maintain professional standards in a high-pressure kitchen
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening, company medical test, and national police clearance
