About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety excellence within our organisation. Reporting directly to the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing Health and Safety protocols across our earthworks projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety systems and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed safety and production reports, including incident investigations, near misses, and corrective actions, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure that Health and Safety requirements are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Proactively identify training needs and deliver safety training programs to employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collect data and compile daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly production and Safety reports.
- Manage deadlines effectively and prioritise tasks to ensure timely completion of safety-related activities and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate accountability for collecting, analysing, and disseminating safety-related information to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Minimum Cert IV Work Health and Safety or Occupational Health and Safety
- Cert IV Trainer and Assessor desirable
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the mining or heavy earthworks industry
- Strong knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and root causes of safety incidents
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with safety reporting and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
