All about the role:
The Finance Director position is an operational and strategic role and as a member of the local management team, will drive collaboration across the functions to ensure appropriate financial responsibility of the business. The role has a strong focus on leading the business and supporting the Managing Director in commercial and strategic decision making. The Finance Director is responsible for establishing a financial strategy for the profitable long term growth of the business. To succeed in this role, the Finance Director will work closely in a matrix organisation, with the local leadership team and the key stakeholders within the broader Just Eat Takeaway.com group.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & execute the Menulog finance strategy
- Modelling & Forecasting: Work closely with the Managing Director and other senior leadership members to develop accurate financial modelling and forecasting.
- Business Partnering: Work closely with the local senior leadership team, providing sound financial support, guidance and insights, allowing the team to make critical business decisions and guidance on how to best allocate resources
- Financial Reporting: Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and provide reporting, analysis and insights to relevant stakeholders.
- Accounting: Oversee any accounting activities performed by the Finance Operation team (GFO), ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of local accounting, controlling and tax activities as well as ensuring local compliance.
- Statutory: Responsibility for the local statutory accounts and the audit process. Signing off on the local P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Risk and Control: Owns the Risk Register and supports internal audits. Monitors all the financial trajectory and promptly flagging risks and opportunities, building new scenarios and mitigation plans in conjunction with the business.
- Systems: Work in partnership with the Group finance systems team to ensure that the ERP, and any other underlying accounting package in use, is fit for purpose and used appropriately
Leadership of the Menulog finance team
- Build, develop and inspire the finance team.
- Regularly engage the whole finance team to communicate company updates, finance strategies, changes and progress against targets, ensuring the team believes in the vision and excitedly joins the journey towards success
- Regular catch ups with your direct and dotted line reports to engage, empower, motivate and develop them to maximise engagement, reduce turnover and promote a strong culture and good work life balance.
Be an active and positive member of the Menulog leadership team
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Business Directors ensuring implementation of effective financial processes, methodologies and programs to achieve market share and finance goals
- Support the Managing Director for the preparation of country business reviews and reports to the global JET executive team
- Be a positive member of the senior leadership team, working in a collaborative fashion with the other department heads to help Menulog achieve the overall company goals.
- Promote your brand locally, regularly interacting with employees across the whole Menulog organisation and displaying strong leadership across the business
- Take initiative and ownership of projects, both within and outside of finance that helps with the growth and success of Menulog
- Work closely with global JET finance teams to deliver continuous improvements and automation across the finance function
- Bring market insights and competitive landscape insights to the senior leadership team and act as an advocate for the business, driving an overarching growth agenda
- Adhere to and be an advocate of our JET values of Lead, Deliver and Care
Be an active and positive contributor to the JET global finance community
- Work closely with the wider JET Finance leadership team to collaboratively develop the broader JET finance strategy
- Build an international network among other finance Directors and the JET International team in order to share best practices.
- Actively work with the JET community to raise your profile globally and be respected and seen as a senior thought leader within the global finance team
Can you deliver… (required Knowledge, skills and competencies)
The Finance Director position requires a visionary, analytical and commercially driven finance leader with great people management skills and an ability to execute in a highly competitive digital marketplace.
The role specifically requires:
- At least 7 years of experience in a finance leadership position, ideally within a matrix organisation
- Degree educated with a robust academic profile and a professional accounting qualification
- Well rounded, with a strong breadth of experience across all areas of finance
- Core experience anchored in finance but with the commercial instinct to drive value and performance across the wider business
- Demonstrable experience in improving business practices, creating efficiencies and improving team performance both in finance and across the business
- Will bring strategic and ‘big picture’ thinking and be able to set a clear vision and plan whilst also being a ‘doer’ and in particular ensuring operational excellence with a strong attention to detail.
- Great logical and analytical problem solver, with extremely strong attention to detail.
- A strong leader and communicator, able to present a vision as well as take people on a journey, empower and develop their team.
- Credibility to influence and work effectively with local and central teams across JET. The candidate needs to be able to build and maintain productive cross-functional, multidisciplinary relationships, working with ambiguity in a fast paced business, reaching high levels of trust and an ability to negotiate and challenge.
- Ability to set clear goals, devise plans, provide appropriate details and meet deadlines with strong planning and prioritizing skills
