About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Managerto join the team and make their mark as the business expands its operation into Papua New Guinea (PNG) with the establishment of a new entity and customer.
Based at our head office in Brisbane’s CBD and reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance function from the early stages of the project and collaborate with both local and international key stakeholders and government agencies in order to establish compliant financial systems and processes for the PNG operation.
You will have the opportunity to utilize your technical and analytical skills to ensure compliance and to enable the company’s leaders to make informed decisions that will ultimately contribute to the company strategy.
In addition, you will play a crucial role in developing internal controls and systems to improve reporting, performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Establish systems and processes in line with group and statutory requirements
- Managing and mentoring of the accounting team, developing well rounded accountants and future leaders
- Preparation of various management accounting, financial, statutory, taxation and ad-hoc reports and submissions
- Preparation of budgets, forecasting for the business
- Analysis of actual results and variance to budgets and targets and collaboration with operational teams to drive performance
- Working closely with the Groups' financial shared service centre, based at our head office in South Africa, to culture a good relationship that ensures an effective finance and reporting function in the local business
- Payroll facilitation and review
- Tax compliance and reporting
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures
- Internal and external audit engagements
- Engagement with local PNG authorities, banks and service providers
The Successful Applicant Will Possess:
- Professional Financial Accreditation CPA or CA
- A minimum of 5 years working as a Finance Manager for an international organisation and demonstrated skills in mentoring staff
- Strong financial reporting and tax experience, PNG experience will be an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in managing a small to medium size organisation’s accounting, tax and statutory compliance requirements
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
- Demonstrated experience in a large ERP system is essential with SAP experience considered highly advantageous
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate and manage staff at all levels and lead by example
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
