As Finance Manager you are responsible for the day to day account keeping at Stoddart and as such, manage the accounts receivable and payable teams. The role takes direct responsibility for more sophisticated accounting processes including the reporting of sales figures. As a tertiary qualified accountant, the incumbent may be asked to participate in, or direct projects initiated by senior management.
More specifically your duties will include the following:
- Confirm control mechanisms are in place for processes such as payment approvals, General Ledger coding, and classification of assets and expenses
- Maintain the General Ledger as directed
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts as directed
- Raise, monitor, and report monthly sales figures and escalate reporting as month draws to a close
- Conduct monthly management account preparations
- Monitor the day to day functioning of Accounts Receivable and Payable
- Monitor and evaluate business insurance
- Calculate and account for various business taxes
- Manage stocktakes
- Undertake basic staff administration (e.g. approve leave)
- Manage the allocation of tasks
- Manage staff performance with a view to continuous improvement
In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:
- Tertiary qualification in finance or accounting
- Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures
- Basic knowledge of relevant workplace legislation
- Ability to demonstrate enhanced verbal and written communication skills incorporating MS Office
- Demonstrated experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to an advanced level
The following criteria are considered desirable:
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing (job costing) environment
