Job Description
The Opportunity
In this newly created role you will manage the end to end payroll function for the organisation, along with having responsibility for all taxation and compliance obligations for employees, contractors and consultants, currently 600 people.
In this leadership role your responsibilities will include:
Management of the payroll team with a focus on operational efficiency and development of optimised work instructions and processing.
Ensuring fortnightly payroll is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations
Ensure enterprise agreements and awards are implemented accurately.
Manage the review and continuous improvement of payroll and timesheet systems.
Manage the salary budgeting process for the annual budget cycle.
Manage the compliance and contracting requirements for the engagement of contractors.
Manage the payroll components of the annual OAG audit process and other internal audits.
Being the subject matter expert for superannuation, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax, salary packaging and other employment related compliance.
Maintain data integrity in the payroll system.
Regular review of the application of entitlements, penalties, allowances and overtime.
Regular and ad hoc reporting as required for the Board and leadership team.
Qualifications
About You
Advanced knowledge of superannuation, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax and other employment related compliance requirements is essential.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Business Administration, or similar discipline highly regarded
Demonstrated experience managing a payroll function ensuring payroll is processed on-time, accurately, and in compliance with legislation and government regulations.
Willingness to be hands on with payroll processing when required.
Demonstrated experience in interpreting EBAs, modern awards and other state and industry legislation.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of best practice payroll processing.
Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws
Resilience and an ability to prioritise and manage a high volume payroll
Proven communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effective with people at all levels within the organisation, and key external stakeholders
Proficiency working with payroll and accounting software
