Our opportunity
As Finance Manager, Residential Development, you will support the division by providing finance support to the business, which includes leadership and guidance to direct and indirect teams, ensuring integrity of numbers through effective resolution of accounting issues, communicating with stakeholders and driving strong controls and procedures.
This is a 14 Month Fixed Term Full Time Contract.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Support the delivery of divisional results through quality financial management and leadership.
• Group and divisional reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness and adherence to accounting standards and business requirements. This includes account accuracy to forecast.
• Core financial account technical compliance and controls focus across all states.
• Implement and maintain effective financial and operational systems and controls to drive quality and efficiency.
• Review and manage financial results of all states and consolidated position, including ensuring month end and monthly deliverables to Group Finance and others, as well as half year and full year reporting and analysis.
• Manage auditors and ensure timely delivery of audit deliverables.
• Contribution to half year and year end reporting packs and papers. ICQ and month end checklists.
• Key support for technical accounting including scenario calculations, accounting papers and documentation of accounting processes and policies.
• Review and manage monthly and reporting period end cashflow accounting between cash and accruals.
• Review and manage monthly accounts for various entities and joint ventures including tax calculations and corporate analysis for statutory accounts and reporting segments.
• Report to external joint venture partners and manage all related stakeholders.
• Ensure the results of the business are closely monitored by maintaining effective financial controls and working closely with State Finance Managers to ensure actuals to forecast are managed.
• Maintain strong relationships with State Finance Teams to ensure accounting treatments align with development management agreements, transaction nature and background.
• Actively drive process improvement projects to create efficiency and value, including automation capabilities and drive business adoption.
• Actively drive accounting process improvements in particular quality of accounting treatments and calculations.
• Financial and commercial involvement on existing projects and new business acquisitions including active support to the Commercial Finance team in reviewing technical accounting implications and prepare accounting papers.
• Effectively lead and manage immediate and offshore team members to achieve financial and business objectives. Month end process management across both onshore and offshore teams.
• Actively involved in systems implementation as it relates to finance including in the capacity of SME.
• National oversight across system maintenance, controls across all relevant modules, ensuring consistency across all states.
• Strong membership and performance feedback to onshore and offshore team and point of contact between offshore and business.
• Provide general assistance and query management services to the wider finance team.
• Offshore team management of monthly metrics and performance; involvement in monthly operational team updates and day to day coordination; offshore compliance with Mirvac accounting policies.
• Actively manage and review the work of staff tasked with undertaking income tax, TEA, FBT and GST calculations/information requests.

Your point of difference
You will have extensive years accounting experience within property/accounting, relevant tertiary qualifications and CPA/CA or CFA equivalent.
You will have strong technical accounting skills with high level of communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
Finally you will have well developed analytical and problem solving skills, excellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to engage and lead a high performing team.
