Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA.
- Minimum 8 years of accounting experience.
- Excellent knowledge of AASB and IFRS accounting standards; strong financial reporting and tax experience; financial audit experience (client side).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; sharp attention to detail; able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; staff management experience; confident dealing with senior stakeholders.
- Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages.
- Desirable: background working as an auditor, audit manager or similar assurance professional; experience with SAP accounting software.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of the finance department.
- Managing the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with all relevant accounting standards, including the first-time adoption of AASB Accounting Standards.
- Managing the audit engagement and process, ensuring achievement of relevant reporting deadlines, including the first-time financial audit of the Company’s statutory accounts.
- Developing and implementing appropriate accounting policies, internal controls, and accounting processes. Managing the company’s financial systems, including supporting the roll-out of SAP ERP system by the parent company.
- Oversee the submission of taxation returns such as BAS, FBT, and GST, and liaison with external tax specialists.
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day financial activities of the company. Preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and financial risk.
- Oversight of the month-end process including: Completion of the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations; Production of the monthly accounts; Reporting to subsidiary control department of the parent company; Completion of the commentary around variance to budget.
- Liaising with: parent company management, finance team, and subsidiary control; external auditors; tax and accounting advisors; banks.
- Providing commentary and analysis around the company’s performance to the management team. Providing financial advice to managers regarding initiatives to improve financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Management of qualified accountants and junior team members.
