The Finance Officer is primarily accountable, under limited direction, for undertaking activities and tasks within established procedures and guidelines and working with the team to deliver a wide range of finance business services to stakeholders in an accurate and timely manner. They will build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide advice and support on a range of moderately complex to complex financial matters.
The Finance Officer will work collaboratively in a small team, provide assistance to others and contribute to team planning, continuous improvement, and decision-making. They will identify and manage risk and issues regarding their work, and exercise judgement that is appropriate for their position.
The key duties of the position include
As the Finance Officer reporting into the Assistant Director, you will be responsible and accountable for:
- Performing end-to-end processing of accounts payable and receivable functions, including activities such as monthly reconciliation, and uploading of the credit card file
- Monitoring the finance inbox, responding to queries, and providing timely and accurate advice and assistance in accordance with relevant TEQSA policies and procedures.
- Undertaking some month-end accounting processes and reconciliations for departmental and administered accounts, investigate, and resolve anomalies or escalate as appropriate.
- Managing administered receipts, refunds, and reporting activities across a wide range of platforms including CRM, Technology One and Central Budget Management System (CBMS), adhering to the TEQSA Act and applicable fee instruments.
- Building and sustaining collaborative relationships with case managers and CRM administrators to ensure complex matters and anomalies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Contributing to the administration of the credit card expense management system, including providing access and training to new users.
- Assisting with the identification and implementation of business process improvements for the team and contribute to the achievement of team outcomes as identified in the Business Plan.
- Performing other duties as directed.

Qualifications and experience
- A good working knowledge of the Australian Government financial frameworks such as the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act
- Experience with MS Excel and a financial management system preferably Technology One.
- Membership with a professional accounting body (such as CPA/CA) or working towards a professional qualification is preferred but not essential.
