FINANCE OFFICER – La Boite Theatre
La Boite is Australia’s longest continuously running theatre company, celebrating its 100th year of operation in 2025 and recently named Queensland’s seventh major arts organisation.
Located in Kelvin Grove Brisbane, La Boite is home to the iconic 400 seat Roundhouse Theatre, one of the country’s only purpose-built theatre in-the-rounds.
La Boite has a proud reputation for developing artists and audiences – with the aim to push the boundaries of theatre and create a pathway for local and national artists to mainstream stages in Brisbane and beyond.
La Boite plays a crucial role in the local, state and national arts sector as an incubator and producer of new work, with a dedicated focus on the sustainability of Brisbane-based arts practice from emerging to established practitioners, producers, and arts managers.

Position Overview:
Position Type: Part-time
Work Hours: 2 days per/week
Relationships: This position reports to the Head of Business and works closely with the external accountant.
GOALS
- To be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the Company’s financial transactions
- To ensure an efficient, productive working environment for La Boite Administration staff by providing effective financial support.
- To ensure adherence to corporate governance by supporting timely financial reporting to statutory bodies and funding bodies.
DUTIES
- Maintain the company’s accounts (MYOB), including payroll and supporting records.
- Process weekly payroll and supplier invoices and payments.
- Facilitate customer invoicing for the Company and monitor outstanding amounts.
- Reconcile the monthly credit card accounts.
- Complete bank reconciliations on a timely basis (weekly for main operating accounts).
- Administer petty cash.
- Prepare cash banking (generated from box office and bar sales), including reconciling to POS sales reports.
- Support management and staff with financial queries and reports.
- Work with the external accountant with month-end accounting (e.g. ticketing).
- Reconcile and process monthly superannuation.
- Complete monthly IAS returns for PAYG withholding.
- Complete quarterly BAS returns for GST and PAYG withholding.
- Support the external accountant with planning and preparation for year-end and the annual audit.
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties not specifically mentioned in this document, but within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Experience
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or higher qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Registered BAS Agent
- Proficiency in accounting software. MYOB experience preferred.
- Experience with payroll duties.
- Exceptional organisational skills with adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Professional experience in the NFP or Arts sectors preferred.
- Knowledge of the Australian cultural sector with a focus on contemporary arts and diverse communities beneficial.
NB. The requirements of this position include a degree of flexibility as you will be expected to work on events that may fall outside of usual hours or for additional hours to meet our changing business needs and the demands of your role.
