Address The Museum has an exciting opportunity to join the Finance Business Unit as a Finance Officer to support financial information processing and monitoring, business support and associated activities.
The Finance Officer plays a key role within the Financial team ensuring timely and accurate processing of information and data integrity and requires practical experience and a sound understanding in the provision of operational financial services. The role is expected to be proactive, professional and supportive, with a strong focus on compliance and be committed to the delivery of high-quality financial services to stakeholders.
The key duties of the position include
Under limited supervision the role will be responsible for:
• Preparing and processing purchase orders and invoices for payments
• Raising and receipting revenue invoices
• Monitoring compliance with internal Museum policies and procedures, including delegations, AP/AR processing and some accounting policies (eg. repayments, capital expenditure and travel)
• Managing cash functions, including online banking, cash collections and float checks
• Resolving internal and external customer/client queries and assisting to manage overdue payments and receipts
• Assisting with the management and maintenance of financial records and relevant aspects of the finance system
• Providing support to other team members and performing other ad hoc duties as required
• Building team culture, capacity and capability, while demonstrating an awareness and personal commitment to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
The successful candidate will bring a comprehensive working knowledge of the finance function in a government context. The person we seek is proactive, customer focused, professional and who has an eye for continuous improvement.
Financial acuity and attention to detail will define you. The person will possess FMIS systems experience, have a proven ability to interpret and apply internal financial management policies and procedures and be adept at trouble shooting and problem solving. You will enjoy being organized and thorough and delivering quality work on time.
