Finance Officer
Marist College Ashgrove is a Roman Catholic day and boarding school for boys, located in Ashgrove, a northern suburb of Brisbane. The college has a primary school for students in grades 5 to 6 and a high school for students in grades 7 to 12.
The College has an immediate vacancy for a Finance Officer 3-4-month fixed-term contract, with potential to fill a permanent position. This annual salary for this position is circa $80,000 plus super and is based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
We are seeking a switched on Finance Officer who is able to manage a wide variety of tasks and deadlines, comfortable with handling excel data, is pro-active in problem solving and with a strong focus on customer service.
The ideal applicant will be required to:
- Work autonomously and manage the cashless money collection systems, petty cash and corporate card entry.
- Daily receipting of sundries, boarding and events and manage sundry debtor portfolio.
- Prepare quarterly billing for music and boarding incidentals and adhoc billing for other suppliers.
- Manage the Mail Inbox for Sundry charges and ensure prompt responses to queries.
- Directly assist parents and staff with the use of payment systems (eg Monitor/iPOS) and School Portal.
- Enter transactions and journals into Xero accounts for College sub entities.
- Management of online Tuckshop/Bus Payment system – product set ups, uploading bus charges and tuckshop data into the system and uploading data into the College General Ledger and reporting.
- Management of Fixed Assets register and assisting yearly asset audit.
- Assist with FBT coding and preparation of FBT return.
- Assist the Director of Finance with financial reporting requirements for Management and Government.
- Assist with preparation for interim & yearly audits.
- Month and Year-end processing, journals and reconciliations.
- Periodic & ad hoc tasks and reporting as required.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- A commitment to the Catholic and Marist ethos of the College.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children).
- Minimum 3 years in a similar role.
- Finance diploma or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in processing and reconciling accounting transactions.
- A creative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to take ownership of the role and act autonomously.
- Attention to detail, with an eye to streamline business procedures.
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills and the ability to develop these further.
- Excellent time management with the ability to work under pressure and multitask.
- Ability to backfill in other Finance Team roles such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Experience using TASS is advantageous.
- Ability to act with integrity and be customer focused, friendly & approachable.
- Strong work ethic.
