The Opportunity
Taking on the Finance Officer role, you’ll be experienced in financial accounting, preferably within a local government context. You’ll look after monthly reconciliations, year end processes, supporting with audits and assisting with the compilation of annual budgets.
You’ll also be responsible for the preparation of various financial reporting requirements, managing Council’s banking software, monthly and year end accrual journals BAS returns, accounts receivable and managing cash and investments.
This is a full-time opportunity through to September 2024 and is based from Bairnsdale with hybrid working available.
Things You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)
- Tertiary degree or diploma qualification in a business-related discipline is preferred.
- Demonstrated substantial senior financial accounting experience preferably within the local government sector.
- Extensive experience in managing cash and investments for a large organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and under limited supervision.
- Sound demonstrated communication skills and ability to liaise with various levels of staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create and analyse spreadsheets.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
