Role Summary
Provide effective supervision and support to staff in the Finance Transactional Services Team, as well as providing expert guidance to all internal stakeholders with regards to the services provided by the team.
The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a professional and experienced Finance Supervisor to lead the Finance transactional services team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the purpose of the position is ensuring the effective transactional service delivery and supervision of the transaction services team including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Prize Money, Banking and General Ledger Management of Racing Queensland (RQ).
The finance transactional team at RQ are a very busy unit who undertake high volume calls and processes in relation to the distribution of prize money to industry participants for all three codes of racing. This is not your everyday run of the mill accounts payable/receivable function. We are looking for a Finance Supervisor who is passionate about customer service, has the patience and resilience to deal with sometimes demanding customers. You will have the ability to drive high performance and can lead and coach a team to deliver high quality customer service. This is a fast-paced transactional environment, which in some ways is similar to a call centre but with an AR/AP/Admin focus.
Key accountabilities include
- Manage the transactional services team to ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with statutory requirements and internal processes and standards.
- Provide specialist advice to internal and external customers to ensure the consistent adherence to RQ policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Effectively manage the debtor management process to maintain optimum credit limits and the timely collection of debts.
- Manage the development, review and implementation of the transactional services team's procedures and work instructions to cover all processes to include the systems and internal controls requirements, key roles and responsibilities in adherence to the RQ standards.
- Ensure the accurate and complete monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and the timely clearance of unreconciled items
The Successful Profile
- Experience in a supervisory role with a thorough understanding of all transactional team functions.
- Experience in providing financial administration, high attention to detail.
- Ability to be solutions orientated and solve problems by applying known solutions and/or interpreting relevant legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
- Ability to obtain the cooperation of others to comply with financial or administrative requirements.
- Ability to take the team on a journey to understand, document and advise on improving transactional processes.
- Ability to provide advice and recommendations to the Financial Controller regarding the financial transactions undertaken by the team.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, internal clients and industry participants in the achievement of objectives and delivery of a service of the transactional services team.
- Ability to prepare reports, discuss issues, reach agreement and influence others in the achievement of objectives.
- Experience with Netsuite is advantageous.
