Financial Accountant

FREECHOICE was established in 1991 and we currently have over 290 stores around the country. We are one of Australia's largest specialist retailers in Tobacco and related products. With successful Retail and Vending Operations nationally, FREECHOICE is a leader in the industry.

We are currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant, reporting to the CFO in our corporate office, located in Upper Coomera.  This is a full-time permanent position.

The role:

• Preparation of monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports
• Preparation of year-end financial statements
• Manage forecasting and budgeting for the overheads and balance sheet accounts.
• Effective management of the company’s cash forecast on a weekly basis
• Responsible for tax compliance reporting (payroll tax, BAS, FBT)  
• Identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities for financial and accounting processes
• Processing payroll.
• Preparation and management of financial policies and procedures
• Backing up other team members to manage workload.
• Ad hoc tasks as and when required.
• General Accounting:

1. Examining financial records to check for accuracy.
2. Preparing monthly bank reconciliations
3. Maintenance of fixed assets register and posting monthly depreciation (accounting and tax)
4. General ledger posting and journals, including accruals and prepayments.
5. Completing monthly intercompany reconciliations
6. Review and provide support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable function.

Position Requirements: 

• Retail experience across physical retail stores is essential. Supermarket experience is highly desirable.
• Experience across wholesale is desirable.
• Excellent understanding of inventory control, analysis and forecasting.
• Experience in analysing store performance and providing. recommendations.
