A vacancy currently exists for a Food Safety and Quality Assessor at our Thomastown site in Victoria.
As part of a team reporting to the Food Safety and Quality Manager, the positions main focus will be to ensure the implementation of effective and efficient Quality Assurance systems to allow the operation to meet or exceed the levels of Food Safety, quality, biosecurity and animal welfare standards required by our customers and legislation.
The purpose of the Food Safety and Quality Assessor function is to maintain trust and integrity in the products and processes by independently, monitoring and verifying the quality system requirements in accordance with the documented system to ensure that a safe, quality food is produced.
Some of the key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting Food Safety and Quality / HACCP / GMP and Animal Welfare Assessment through monitoring and verification.
- Appropriately mitigate risk, action and escalate appropriately when anomalies identified.
- Reading and understanding Food Safety and Quality Systems including HACCP documentation
- Conduct and contribute to internal quality systems audits as required
- Assist when required as an auditee for external audits.
- Daily reporting as required
- Follow up complaints and internal non-compliance issues as required
- Facilitate promote and utilize the cards system
- Facilitate promote and utilize the deviation system
- Facilitate promote and utilize the Change Management system
- Assist in micro sampling, micro swabbing, ATP and other process monitoring functions.
- Assist with the development and implementation and review of Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures
- Be an active and pro-active member of the Food Safety and Quality team.
- Ensure data is truthful, has integrity and is clear in its presentation as it relates all the above activities.
- Promote lead and influence alongside the rest of the technical team a strong Food Safety culture onsite with full implementation of all corporate expectations and activities especially as it relates to “Food Safety Always”.
- Use risk-based decision making and analysis as required
- Ensure a working knowledge and implementation of the Quality Management System on a day to day basis as it relates to the tasks.
To be successful you will need experience in a similar role, preferably in poultry, meat processing, food manufacturing or a related FMCG manufacturing environment. You will be suitably qualified and have an ability to develop cross-functional relationships and a demonstrated ability to work with others. You will have well-developed organisational skills, a focus on quality, effective at handling pressure situations with strong computer proficiency (Word and Excel) essential.
