What you'll do:
As a Financial Accountant, you will play an integral role within our dynamic finance team. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Manager - National Finance in ensuring the financial sustainability of our organisation. You will have a hands-on role in preparing balance sheets, managing cash flows, providing technical accounting advice and overseeing month-end reporting. Your keen eye for detail will be crucial in managing fixed assets and improving key financial controls. With your strong interpersonal skills, you will also assist in overseeing our offshore general finance team.
Other key duties include-
- Support the Manager - National Finance in completing the annual audit and preparation of financial statements
- Prepare balance sheet and operating cashflow/working capital budgets and forecasts, along with ongoing reporting of actuals
- Provide technical accounting advice, including capital decisions, lease accounting, working capital management programs and provision standards
- Manage month end reporting, including the preparation / review of journals
- Oversee ongoing Balance Sheet management, including monthly review of key balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage Fixed Asset management, including the correct classification and accounting treatment for new assets, improvements, impairment indicators and requirements
- Assist in overseeing the performance of the offshore general finance team, including process improvement, training, and direction
- Continually improve key financial controls and related policies and processes
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Financial Accountant role brings a wealth of experience from either a large accounting firm or corporate setting. You are CPA or CA qualified with a strong technical knowledge of IFRS. Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, will be key in liaising with various stakeholders. You have a proactive approach to your work, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and accountability. Your strong coordination and teamwork skills will be crucial in driving continuous improvements within the team. Advanced computer skills, particularly with PowerPoint and Excel, are also essential for this role. - A minimum of 4 years CPA or CA qualification
- Direct experience gained in Assurance or Accounting in either a large accounting firm or large corporate
- Strong technical knowledge and sound understanding of IFRS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proactive approach with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Strong coordination and teamwork skills with an emphasis on continuous improvements
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with PowerPoint and Excel
