You will join us as a Financial Accountant in the Finance Services team, coordinating accurate and timely financial reporting and effective cash flow management. The role coordinates financial transactions and controls while providing guidance for budget performance analysis and liaising with external auditors. Additionally, the position is crucial in ensuring business compliance with financial regulations and executing necessary adjustments for accounting standards alignment.
Your contribution and responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements for client groups, contributing to effective reporting of client group performance against targets and providing insightful commentary
- Monitor receivables, payables, and banking activities to assist in managing cash flow for client groups and support optimal financial stability and liquidity across business divisions.
- Coordinate with the team to ensure precise and timely processing of financial transactions, such as Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) and implement robust financial controls to maintain financial integrity.
- Assists in monitoring and analysing budget performance, identifying areas for improvement, and providing valuable insights to management accountants for well-informed financial decisions.
- Assist in liaising with external auditors during audit processes, ensuring seamless compliance with audit requirements, and maintaining meticulous documentation for a successful audit.
- Maintaining accurate financial and tax records and staying updated with regulation changes supports business compliance with relevant financial regulations in Australia, including tax compliance.
- Assist in monitoring budget execution, provide regular updates on financial performance to the Senior Financial Accountant, and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
- Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards, ensuring full compliance, and implementing necessary adjustments in financial operations to uphold high financial reporting standards and adherence to accounting principles.
- Meet all month, quarter, and year-end deadlines, including creating and posting journals, completing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, HFM, and quarterly Audit Packs.
What will you bring:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is beneficial.
- Relevant experience in accounting and finance roles, focusing on financial reporting and analysis.
- Exposure to coordinating and working with external auditors during the audit process, with an understanding of audit procedures, controls, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and variance analysis, with the ability to assist in monitoring and analysing budget performance and resource allocation.
- Experience managing cash flow, including monitoring receivables, payables, and banking activities, and familiarity with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Familiarity with financial regulations, including tax compliance requirements, and the ability to collaborate with tax teams for tax compliance.
- High proficiency in using financial systems, software, and tools, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
