Responsibilities
Based in North Sydney, we are seeking a Financial Accountant to take ownership of improving efficiencies and driving operational performance. This role will be integral in taking responsibility for advanced accounting tasks and tax compliance.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Complete accurate and timely accounting and reporting for all levels of the business,
- Manage and assist with half year year-end audits, schedules, and queries,
- Preparing group related tax inclusive of corporate income tax, GST, FBT and land tax,
- Managing taxes inclusive of BAS, FBT and Income Tax schedules,
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintaining and reconciling the Fixed Assets Register and preparation of fixed asset reporting.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights,
- Maintaining compliance with state and federal tax requirements in with regulations, advising required actions, estimated tax liabilities and preparing data for tax filings.
- Identify opportunities to improving systems and processes within your area of responsibility.
Skills and Experience
Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role is integral to our accounting team. The most suited candidate for this role will be a self-starter, driven to succeed and enjoy working within a team environment.
In addition, you will possess:
- A minimum of 3-5 years as a Financial Accountant or similar position,
- Tertiary qualifications within Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline,
- CPA/CA qualified is desired but not essential,
- Prior experience managing or coaching other team members,
- Solid understanding of GAAP and Tax,
- Ability to educate staff on key accounting policies,
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
- Confidence managing multiple different priorities and the ability to prioritise accordingly,
- Able to take initiative, solve complex reconciliations and offer process improvements.
- Flexibility to take on ad hoc and changing responsibilities.
- A high level of attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
