As a leader in the underground mining industry, they are poised to embark upon an exciting phase of evolution and have an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join their team (now 30 people!) based in Thornton.
Cougar are providing an opportunity for a commercially savvy numbers cruncher to own all things reporting! This role is an opportunity for you to master the integrity of their data, giving an overview of the financial health of the company and assisting the Head of Group Finance & Commercial/CFO to strategically forecast big moves.
Your new role …
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and providing essential financial support to the Financial Controller, ensuring the smooth operation of Cougar Mining’s operational needs.
Not one to shy away from challenge, you will ensure accurate and timely reporting, provide guidance and leadership to admin and accounts team members and work alongside the Management Accountant.
- Support company treasury activities, including cashflow and banking responsibilities.
- Review current financial systems and look for improvements, including an overhaul of financial software packages.
- Prepare monthly profit and loss reporting and balance sheet reports whilst maintaining the overall integrity of the general ledger.
- Support the Financial Controller with reporting to external auditors and tax advisors.
- Support the Junior Accountant, Accounts team and Admin staff, providing support and guidance when required.
- Liaising and providing support to tax accountants including preparing monthly BAS report and annual FBT returns as well as any other requests that may arise.
If you have tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, or commerce with strong excel skills and a developed knowledge of accounting practices, systems and processes then please apply!
