About the role:

The Financial Accountant for Trading and Management Portfolio (TPM) West Coast will be an integral part of the Merchant Energy Accounting team, managing the month end process, reporting, process improvement and ad hoc analysis. The role is a mix of regular processes and process improvement. It suits a qualified accountant looking to make a real difference to the Finance landscape, while working in a fast paced, complex environment.

In this role, you’ll be:

• Managing the month end process for the Merchant Energy businesses, including coordination of various inputs, calculation models in an efficient and accurate manner
• Reporting on monthly P&L result, Balance Sheet and cashflow to a broad audience
• Identifying areas of improvement and implementing practical means to improve efficiency of financial results
• Identifying and addressing risks relating to the balance sheet and communicating these effectively to a broad audience
• Acting as guardian and custodian of designated Merchant Energy businesses, ensuring correct application of accounting principles and balance sheet reconciliations

Ideally, you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experience as a Qualified Accountant
• Experience reporting to senior stakeholders, including preparation of written documents and presentation to management
• Exposure to AIFRS financial reporting and complex group structure and be comfortable working in a complex, data driven environment
• Basic financial modelling skills or experience building models to support financial processes and analysis
• Advanced MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel is essential and experience using Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close and HFM/SmartView would be beneficial
