Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
Reporting to the Financial Compliance Specialist, as the Financial Compliance Analyst you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of global and local compliance requirements for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). In addition, you will provide support in the governance over ethical business conduct.
This role will be rewarding, varied and will include:
  • Embed compliance with internal controls over financial reporting through proactively identifying process improvements and delivering training to BCO and Site Finance on internal control standards, procedures and policies
  • Evaluate and respond to control testing results, working with relevant stakeholders to identify compensating and mitigating controls, and create remediation plans.
  • Support control owners and operators in RACM governance, attestation and remediation activities
  • Plan and deliver risk-based control reviews, in consultation with senior management and second line assurance
  • Proactively identify the impacts of changes in business processes to Financial Compliance, working with both local and global stakeholders
  • Support implementation, testing, and monitoring of the annual ethical business compliance program including the associated risk register, Intermediary Risk Management and Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
You will be a finance professional with a strong commercial acumen developed via relevant post-qualification experience in a large corporate environment or chartered accounting firm. Previous exposure to mining operations or a multi-site business is valued.
Some of your skills will include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Auditing / Finance / Risk
  • Professional designation (CPA or CA) or studying towards (preferred)
  • Prior role within in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Environment or equivalent - i.e. within a SOX registrant; or as Audit or Advisory professional to SOX registrants
  • Specialist knowledge in interpretation and application of SOX standards or equivalent
  • Strong organisational and analytical, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate methodology into pragmatic and value enhancing outcomes
