Ingot Hotel Perth is an award winning, 4 star, independently owned and operated hotel and marketed under the Choice Hotels banner. We are now seeking a Financial Controller with a passion for not only finance but also the hospitality industry.
As a senior member of the team and reporting directly to the General Manager and Owner, you will be responsible for providing management assistance whilst overseeing all finance and accounting functions on a day to day basis. You will be required to lead a small finance team to ensure our hotel meets its financial benchmarks. You will act as a strategic business partner to ensure the highest standard of financial management is achieved and assist other Department Heads to manage the hotel to its highest standards and optimum financial return. The successful candidate will require strong attention to detail, possess excellent communication skills and must be able to confidentially lead the Finance Team.
The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Leading a small team and overseeing all financial operations
- Being responsible for the properties accounting and financial management requirements and compliance
- Prepare, analyse and review daily, weekly and annual financial report
- Verifying all financial data and reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate
- Submit financial reports in a timely manner within delivery deadlines
- In liaison with department managers, monitor and improve hotels operation costs, profitability and business risks
- Ensure profits and losses are documented in an efficient and accurate manner
- Mentor, coach, motivate and upskill the Finance team to enhance their career growth opportunities
The applicant we are seeking will have:
- Experience as an Financial Controller within a hotel/tourism environment
- Hands on operational finance experience and successful managerial skills
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of XERO
- Previous experience in payroll management of a medium sized company 100-120 people
- Highly computer literate with advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel
- Previous experience with Tanda and a Property Management System is desirable with Opera knowledge advantageous
- Forecasting & budgeting management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong financial and business decision making abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask while prioritizing obligations and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work independently
Essential Requirements:
- Current national police clearance
- Proof of accreditation if applicable
Hours of Duty
Flexible working hours are a requirement of this role as while standard business hours would mostly apply, we are a 24/7 business.
