Financial Reporting Specialist
About the role:
Aurizon is currently seeking a CA/CPA qualified Financial Reporting Specialist to join our Group Financial Reporting and Tax Team. This role will support the Group Financial Reporting Lead on all facets of Financial Reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide advice on accounting matters, including implementation of new accounting standards
- Preparation of technical accounting position papers
- Preparation of annual and half-year statutory consolidated financial statements
- Preparation of submissions for the Audit, Governance and Risk Management Committee
- Preparation and/or review of complex and specialised accounting entries, including derivative financial instruments
- Work closing with external auditors and assist in the coordination of audits and reviews
- Development and implementation of financial accounting policies and procedures and provision of support to the finance teams to ensure application of and the improvement in the timeliness and quality of Financial Reporting
- Monitoring, researching and interpreting new accounting and reporting requirements and assessing and documenting the impact on the Group's financial statements
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce
- CPA or CA qualifications
- Minimum 5 years work experience, preferrable big four public accounting experience with large public clients and/or ASX reporting exposure
- Substantial technical accounting knowledge and understanding of relevant accounting standards and principles
- Extensive analytical capability, problem solving ability and attention to detail
- Customer service focus, committed to value added process improvement
- Effective and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team and build relationships for results
