Our Federal Government client is seeking a qualified and experienced FinOps Cost Modeller to provide advice and guidance on financial sustainability by applying cost modelling, cost variations, improving resource allocation and providing service/product costing to support the business optimising cloud utilisation.
Duties
- Review and analyse current cloud cost data across all cloud providers
- Perform detailed cost modelling to support budget predictions
- Work closely with teams on budgets, financial analysis, reviewing spend and return of investment across cloud investments
- Provide input to support cost estimates for investment appraisals, project business cases and cost benefit analysis to support investments in cloud
- Utilise data analysis tools and techniques to enhance cloud cost reporting and enable agency stakeholders to make data driven decisions
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience with cost and/or financial modelling in a Federal Government or a private sector engagement
- Demonstrated modelling for pricing evaluation for a major ICT or asset project/program
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience regarding cloud financial operations, including consumption-based billing, cloud financial optimisation, cost allocation, internal charge back/show back
- Commercial acumen (investment support, scenario planning, issue identification and resolution etc)
This opportunity is within the Australian Public Service. In order to be considered, please note that candidates must be an Australian Citizen at time of application. The successful candidate must hold a Baseline Security Clearance at time of application.
This opportunity can be based in Canberra or Brisbane. Applicants in other locations will be considered at the discretion of the Hiring Manager. Applicants located outside of Canberra will be required to travel to Canberra for operational reasons as directed. Hybrid working arrangements will be accepted.
