We are looking for a kitchen Team Leader to join our team at The Palm, part of the famous Cairns Coconut Resort. In this role you will work alongside the F&B Manager to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing and leading staff, menu preparation and creation, ensuring food quality, monitoring stock and be fully responsible of the Kitchen operations.
About the Role
The Kitchen Team Leader is responsible for leading and training their team to deliver exemplary service whilst maintaining a high quality of Food and Beverage produced including the efficient and effective operation of the kitchen. In addition to this, the Team Leader takes charge for overseeing, and is responsible for all cleaning and sanitation involved in production and service. This is a part time position, approximately 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead and Manage kitchen operations alongside Food & Beverage Manager including rostering, team management and leadership, stock operations, menu creations and day-to-day operations.
- Manage kitchen and back-of-house responsibilities, and lead the team in creating a positive and harmonious atmosphere
- Ensure consistently excellent customer experience
- Effective time management skills ensuring all daily responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and utilising spare time proactively
- Excellent communication skills ensuring that appropriate information is channelled correctly to customers
- Obey all rules and regulations relating to safety, security, fire precautions and personal appearance
- Ensure the kitchen and back-of-house areas is kept in a clean and tidy state
- Ensure all produce is used to its full potential and wastage is maintained at a minimum
- Physically check all produce prior to accepting from supplier, and follow the procedure for return of damaged goods
- Ensure the quality and flavour of our food is maintained to the highest standard at all times
- Verifying Critical Limits are maintained by temperature monitoring all high products from time of receipt, during storage, at time of service, during service and during chilling process (when applicable)
- Ensure the quality and flavour of our food is maintained to the highest standard at all times
- Comply with, and ensure customers comply with RSA and RCG regulations (if applicable)
- Preparation of beverage, ensuring quality of product served (if applicable)
About You
- First and foremost, a positive attitude with a flexible approach to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen
- Experience and passion about food, kitchen operations and Team Leadership
- Ability to work without supervision and problem solve
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Understanding of the Food Safety requirements (WHS, cleaning, sanitation, chemical safety)
- Food Safety Supervisor or Food Safety Training Accreditation, or willing to obtain
- Knowledge of HACCP and an understanding of how it relates to our Food Safety Program
- Experience in ordering and stock control
