This is a casual entry level position. Experience in the Funeral Industry or similiar is not essential but is an advantage.

Taylor & Forgie have been conducting funerals in the Gawler SA area since 1855. During this time it has been owned by the Forgie family and we currently have the sixth generation in the management team, ensuring a stable future.

We are one of the larger funeral companies in Adelaide with our services conducted primarily in our four chapels that incorporate innovative features.

Purpose of the position: To support funeral operations before, during and after services. As well as the thorough maintenance of our venues and transfers of deceased persons.

A position is immediately available.

What is Funeral Support Staff or FDA?

A Funeral Support person does everything except arrange and conduct a funeral. They assist the conductor/arranger on the day to ensure it runs smoothly and to plan. They have keen attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

Role Description:
The position requires you to have:

  • Proven sensibility to distressed people, their values and beliefs.
  • Experience in a Service Customer driven position with multi tasking.
  • Proven ability to implement time structures and follow through skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to assist in a team environment.
  • The position can be physically demanding and a Drivers licence is required

Funeral Support (FDA) Duties:

  • To prepare our venues for viewings and/or Funeral Services.
  • To liaise with the lead Funeral Director in conducting the service
  • To carry out logistics of testing photos, videos or other presentation material. Including Live Streaming.
  • To reset and restore our venue following a Service.
  • To have expertise in the function and setting up of graveside equipment and placement of vehicles for smooth flow.
  • To assist on viewings and/or Funeral Services at third party venues. (Including setting up of equipment and delivery of services with the lead Funeral Director)
  • To carry out general cleaning and maintenance of our venues, vehicles and equipment. Including garden and yard maintenance.
  • Transfer of deceased people from the place of death, eg, home, hospital, accident scene.
  • Transfer of deceased to and from venues and other locations.
  • General Clerical duties and moderate computer skills required.

Remuneration:
Based on Funeral Directors Award 2020 Level 1. However a salary will be paid to acknowledge the experience and skills the applicant brings to the position.

This position is casual to be flexible to scheduling.

 A minimum of 3 days per week is guaranteed with additional days as needed.
