Araluen Botanic Park, a place of natural beauty nestled in the serene landscapes of Roleystone, Perth WA, is seeking a dedicated Gardener and Groundsman to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about horticulture and maintaining the aesthetic and ecological health of our renowned botanic haven.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the park’s gardens, lawns, and green spaces, ensuring they are well-manicured and visually appealing.
Implement and manage irrigation and reticulation systems to optimize water usage and plant health.
Apply expert knowledge in weed management, including the safe handling and application of chemical treatments.
Participate in the planning and execution of planting schemes and seasonal adjustments.
Contribute to general grounds maintenance tasks such as mulching, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.
Work collaboratively with the park team to support events and special projects.
Assist in guiding volunteers and participating in educational outreach programs as needed.
Requirements:
Qualification in Horticulture or a related field.
Proven experience in irrigation systems and reticulation management.
Competence in weed management and chemical handling, with relevant certifications (e.g., ChemCert accreditation).
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required.
