Job Description
We are searching for a very talented and driven individual to lead the Livestock function for our business.
Based in beautiful Inverell (northern NSW) and reporting directly to the CEO, as the General Manager of Livestock you will be responsible for strategic and operational sourcing, procurement, and management of livestock programs from backgrounding and farmer relationships through to the stockyards.
This is an opportunity for someone with strong commercial acumen and a passion for livestock looking to take the next step in their career.
A typical week might include:
Working with the CEO and Executive team to advise on livestock procurement strategy, using market trends and insights to drive P&L performance and forecasts;
Working with your livestock buying team to understand trends in the market, including sale yards, ensuring appropriate cattle numbers are purchased for weekly processing (up to ~6000 hd) or feedlotting (up to~1250 hd)
A visit to our Myola Feedlot, Croppa Creek to check in on how the team is managing their operations, safety, animal health programs, and people priorities;
Consulting your livestock planning team to understand the demand forecast and any predicted gaps;
Playing an active role in local cattle sales to bring in the best cattle for the business;
Visiting your team at the stockyards at our Inverell facility to make sure our cattle are healthy and ready for processing
