The Mount Gambier Racing Club invites applications for the position of General Manager/CEO. Mount Gambier having a stable population of approximately 28,000 is the second largest city in South Australia. Nestled halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne with the sea right at our doorstep. The Mount Gambier Racing Club conducts 12 race meetings each year which includes the Scott Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup, Road to Jericho Cup Qualifier, and the Millicent Cup. Mount Gambier is also a popular training centre working 6 days a week. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Vision and Leadership:
- Develop and articulate a visionary strategy to propel the Mount Gambier Racing Club to new heights.
- Lead the Operations Team (Team of 7 people) in the execution of strategic initiatives aligned with the club's mission and values.
- Operational Excellence:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless execution of racing events, functions, facility management, and member services.
- Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and financial sustainability.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including members, local trainers, sponsors, Racing SA governing body, and the broader racing community.
- Act as the face of the club, representing its values and ambitions in the public domain.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the club's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Identify revenue-generating opportunities and innovative financial strategies to enhance the club's financial position.
- Innovation and Growth:
- Drive innovation in racing events, functions, member engagement, and community outreach to attract a diverse audience.
- Explore and implement new technologies and trends to enhance the overall racing experience.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure the club operates in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and ethical practices.
- Collaborate with the board to uphold and enhance governance structures and processes.

- Financial acumen with a track record of successful budget management.
- Experience within the horse racing industry or a passion for horse racing and a deep understanding of the industry.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders which include Local Trainers, MGRC members, MGRC Committee, Racing SA & Country Racing SA governing bodies, sponsors, and local community.
