The operation has gone from strength to strength to now include a dedicated team operating across multiple sites in Queensland as a breeding and trading agribusiness.Their Northern Aggregation’s primary property is Elton Downs, approx. 75km south-west of Hughenden, while the Rosehall Aggregation is approx. 120km north-east of Chinchilla. Breeding and backgrounding cattle are held on both aggregations before entry into Darling Downs feedlots for 80-100 days, supplying both the domestic and export markets.Environment and biodiversity are significant factors impacting how Knudsen Cattle maintain their livestock management practices, constantly observing the land, making judgements on what is needed to thrive. Their values underpin Knudsen Cattle’s dedication to fostering excellence, progress and innovation through honouring their people, their community and their future.The PositionDue to continued and rapid growth across the business, Knudsen Cattle now seek a hands-on General Manager to oversee the ongoing business and implement policies and procedures that lead and model the company’s vision and values.Partnering with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the General Manager will lead a team of highly dedicated, engaged and performing employees to reach maximum performance across all sites whilst maintaining the highest levels of integrity.The position will require a hands-on approach and the ability to drive sound decision making across business operations.The PersonTo be successful in this senior leadership position, you will possess the following key skills, experience and attributes:
- Proven senior level experience managing a production enterprise at scale across multiple aggregations, ideally with exposure to the northern cattle industry
- Natural people skills in leading, mentoring and managing a geographically diverse team with the ability to relate across all levels
- Highly developed communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to engage people from a broad spectrum of backgrounds
- Enjoy being involved in strategic decision making but at the same time, happy to be involved in daily operations
- Experience developing and managing budgets as well as the ongoing monitoring of forecasts
- Well developed time management skills with the ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks and competing demands simultaneously
- Results driven with the ability to drive performance to consistently achieve results in the face of, at times, a challenging and changing environment
- Strong work ethic, drive and initiative, demonstrating strategic thinking and problem-solving ability to analyse and solve complex issues
- High level commitment to animal welfare, WH&S compliance and quality
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture or a related discipline will be well regarded
- The ability to travel regularly
