About the role:
The role of the General Manager Sales & Marketing is pivotal in driving the growth of the business through the development and execution of effective Sales and Marketing strategies. This position holds the responsibility of leading teams to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) including revenue, sales volume, and margin. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the General Manager Sales & Marketing plays a significant role in shaping the overall business strategy and contributing to its successful implementation.

Operating as a central figure within the organisation, the General Manager Sales & Marketing is tasked with setting growth objectives across all revenue-generating departments. This involves forecasting resources and outcomes, and critically analysing how these decisions will impact various teams within the company. By aligning Sales and Marketing strategies with overarching business goals, this role ensures cohesion and synergy across different functions to drive overall business success.

Moreover, as a shared resource, the General Manager Sales & Marketing leverages their expertise to guide and support teams in achieving their objectives. Specifically, key accountabilities include:

  • Lead Sales & Marketing functions, implementing innovative strategies for development.
  • Develop and implement efficient sales processes and workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide visionary leadership to foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven culture within the sales team.
  • Analyse market trends to determine pricing strategies, balancing costs, competition, and demand to drive profitability.
  • Utilise sales data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, contributing insights to overall business strategy.
  • Lead Marketing and Customer Service teams to ensure cohesive customer experiences and effective brand promotion.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing customers across both brands, serving as a brand ambassador.
  • Create and achieve sales budgets for all business areas, providing reporting and analysis for monthly meetings and ad hoc requirements.
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with large customers, driving new product line development across all sectors.
  • Foster collaborative work environments with warehouse branches to optimise customer experiences.
  • Ensure CRM system (Zoho) utilisation within the sales team and participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to WH&S and QA policies, completing all relevant compliance requirements within given timeframes, and perform any other duties as required.
The Executive:
The chosen leader will possess extensive experience in sales leadership within the FMCG sector. It is essential that the new GM, Sales & Marketing will demonstrate a track record of cultivating high-performing sales teams and leveraging their established networks to drive growth and success. Additionally, expertise in selling within the foodservice and independent grocery industry sectors, along with experience in negotiating complex tenders and contracts with major customers, is essential.

A successful candidate must exhibit a growth mindset and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving market. You will need to prioritise collaboration and foster a culture of curiosity and innovation within your team. Financial acumen is paramount, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and drive performance. Furthermore, the ideal leader will possess strong relationship-building skills and be proactive in identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities while nurturing existing partnerships.
