Reporting to the Executive General Manager - Water, we are seeking a General Manager for our QLD & ACT Water business within Downer Utilities. This is an impactful and influential leadership role for an experienced and tactical people leader. There are few positions that provide the opportunity to make a genuinely significant impact within a booming and opportunistic industry. This role offers the chance to work with most water authorities and their key stakeholders. Utilising a collaborative approach to build upon their existing strategies, contributing to the heart and soul of sustainable water infrastructure.
As a key member of the Water Senior Leadership team, you will lead from the front, utilising thought leadership whilst maintaining a focus on improved margins and financial returns. You are a proven people leader with the ability to support, develop and guide your teams to success. You have demonstrated a strong commitment and delivery of effective Zero Harm practices, ensuring our safety culture is always front of mind. You will have full ownership and accountability of QLD/ACT projects, including commercial and financial outcomes, succession planning and the continuous strengthening of our customer relationships.
Important Skills
- Experience in a process driven contracted services environment coupled with a proven track record of achievement in a senior operational role. Exposure to managing budgets and multiple projects/programs, preferably within a construction or utilities environment.
- Proven experience in leading operational delivery of complex contracts that span multiple service offerings and a mixed self-perform/subcontractor model.
- Demonstrable experience in a P&L role that has both scale and complexity, with responsibility for financial outcomes (i.e., EBIT, tenure, rebids etc.)
- Prior history of ensuring effective governance and commercial risk management, issues management, and service levels across all work types, customers, and projects. Lead contract variations and retention of existing contracts, including effective mobilisations.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, operations management, finance, commerce, or related discipline capability development.
