The Role
The Goods and Services Category Manager will play a pivotal role in formulating and executing comprehensive national strategic procurement plans aimed at achieving targeted cost savings, optimising supply chain efficiencies, and advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.
The role is targeted at a high performing procurement or commercial specialist looking to take the next step in their procurement career as a Category Manager. This role demands a keen focus on strategic procurement and innovation within the realm of Goods and Services, fostering positive impacts on both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Contract Management: Develop and manage local and national supplier relationships to ensure the delivery of optimal services, quality, cost-effectiveness, adherence to schedules, and safety requirements for the business.
- Relationship and Performance Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with suppliers, emphasising performance management to enhance overall business value.
- Cost Savings and Efficiency: Drive initiatives to realise savings, enhance supply chain efficiencies, and achieve procurement ESG outcomes within the Goods and Services category.
- Innovation and Process Improvement: Contribute to the development of innovative processes and policy improvements in the Goods and Services procurement domain.
- Structured 'Source to Contract' Strategies: Lead and implement more structured 'source to contract' strategies and establish strategic relationships with suppliers.
- Strategic Business Reviews: Conduct strategic business reviews with key suppliers, fostering standardisation and championing change towards innovative ESG procurement practices across our network.
- Support Park Managers and Regional Operations Managers with ad hoc procurement requests.
This role is instrumental in shaping and executing procurement strategies that align with the organisation's goals, emphasising sustainability, efficiency, and innovation within the Goods and Services category. The Goods and Services Category Manager will play a key role in contributing to the organisation's broader ESG objectives.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role you must possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, initiative and flexibility to be able to meet our growing business demands at Discovery Parks.
- At least 2+ years’ demonstrated work experience in a Strategic Procurement role and/or structured Commercial role in a large organisation
- Highly developed communication skills including verbal, written and presentation.
- Previous experience supporting and conducting strategic sourcing exercises including market analysis, developing procurement strategies, scoping business requirements, managing supplier evaluation processes, conducting supplier negotiations, and implementing new agreements.
- Experience with operational and strategic supplier performance management to ensure key supplier obligations are actively managed.
- Demonstrated stakeholder consultation approach to optimise the supply base and enhance the Total Cost of Ownership of external spend as well as identifying and managing supply chain risks and opportunities across assigned Goods and Service categories.
- The role will be focused on a range of strategic sourcing and contract management Goods and service categories to support our ‘Australia wide’ Park network including but not limited to linen services, hardware, cabin furniture, fittings, and equipment.
