By ensuring the timely availability of vital resources precisely where they are required, your contributions directly enhance the effectiveness of healthcare services, benefiting the greater public good.PSCM provides annual membership to the Chartered Institute of Procurement Supply (CIPS), Procurement Supply Australasia (PASA) and World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) for key category management personnel.About the OpportunityAs the Principal Category Manager, you will play an essential role providing expert guidance in the realms of best-practice procurement, sourcing of medical equipment, and contract management. Through strong collaboration with vital business stakeholders, suppliers, and service providers, you ensure highly customised procurement and contract management strategies are executed.As an expert in this area, you will provide knowledgeable counsel and support in formulating acquisition, tender, risk management, negotiation, and contract strategies based on changing procurement priorities. To maintain the integrity of procurement processes, you will be responsible for the business systems that underpin procurement and contract management, including Oracle and the Procurement Contract Management System (PCMS).This integral role will see you leading the team through in-depth research and analysis of key strategic goods and services within the medical equipment domain, providing consultative services to the organisation, driving the initiation of supplier development and enhancement strategies with a goal of process improvement. You will chair relevant committee meetings to provide the Chief Procurement Officer and other executives of key updates; develop and implement key performance metrics for effective procurement management strategies. The Principal Category Manager‘s role will also encompass supervisory responsibilities aimed at guiding and ensuring the team's conduct resonates with the established principles and values of the branch.About You:To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate significant expertise in end-to-end procurement, particularly in medical equipment or a similar category, with prior experience developing comprehensive negotiation strategies. You will be equipped with a strong record in facilitating teams through procurement processes with the ability to identify core business needs and align procurement objectives accordingly. Your market knowledge will allow you to advise others on alternative approaches, including direct negotiation techniques and competitive dialogue.Your extensive experience will be underpinned by a tertiary qualification in fields such as procurement, commerce, finance, economics, business management, law, or equivalent. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to the success of this role, along with the ability to work autonomously, work collaboratively and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.The ideal candidate will showcase a track record in team leadership, market strategy, and ensuring stakeholder collaboration within SA Health guidelines. You will have sound knowledge of Australian contract law and the application to commercial contracting.   • It is mandatory that no person, whether or not currently working in SA Health, will be eligible for appointment to a position in SA Health unless they have obtained a satisfactory Criminal and Relevant History Screening.
  • Prescribed Positions under the Children’s Protection Act (1993) must obtain a satisfactory Criminal and Relevant History ‘child-related’ employment screening through the Screening and Licensing Unit, Department for Communities and Social Inclusion.
  • Criminal and Relevant History Screening must be renewed every 3 years thereafter from date of issue for ‘Prescribed Positions’ under the Children’s Protection Act 1993 or ‘Approved Aged Care Provider Positions’ as defined under the Accountability Principles 2014 pursuant to the Aged Care Act 2007 (Cth).
  • Appointment is subject to immunisation risk category requirements. There may be ongoing immunisation requirements that must be met.
  • Depending on work requirements the incumbent may be transferred to other locations across SA Health to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities either on a permanent or temporary basis subject to relevant provisions of the Public Sector Act 2009 for Public Sector employees or the SA Health (Health Care Act) Human Resources Manual for Health Care Act employees.
  • The incumbent may be required to participate in Counter Disaster activities including attendance, as required, at training programs and exercises to develop the necessary skills required to participate in responses in the event of a disaster and/or major incident
