About UsThe Corporate Governance and Risk Office (CGRO) is responsible for managing the governance functions of the University. It provides procedural advice and support to the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and the ANU Council, Council Committees, and the Academic Board.
CGRO also manages ANU policy, delegations and the risk management framework (including the internal audit function). Position overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with suitable experience, looking for a chance to deliver a high standard of secretariat services in support of key decision-making bodies at one of Australia's leading Universities. The Governance Officer will work as part of a small team of specialist staff to provide administrative support and procedural advice to support the Academic Board, its Chair and its sub committees and, as may be required, other Committees of the University established by the ANU Council. Being a committee secretary involves creating agendas and producing minutes to a high standard, the review of and procedural advice about meeting papers and proposed outcomes, forward agenda planning, monitoring membership and liaison with the Chair, committee members and senior executives at the University.
When time permits, the Governance Officer may assist other Committees along with areas of the office that manage the University Risk Management Framework, the Policy Governance Framework and ANU Delegations. Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in the provision of secretariat services. You will be highly organised, possess an exceptional eye for detail, be interested in the procedural elements of decision-making, and be able to communicate detailed information in a simple and concise manner. You will have effective partnership skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including governance colleagues and senior leaders.
