The Domestic Violence Actions Centre (DVAC) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Graduate Domestic and Family Violence Worker in our Ipswich office. ABOUT THE ROLE
In this position, it is essential to adopt a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. Your main responsibilities will involve conducting assessments to determine the risk and needs of individuals affected by domestic violence. You will also provide crisis support, assist in creating safety plans, offer information and referrals, and provide advocacy support. Moreover, you may have the opportunity to collaborate with various stakeholders and assist with administrative tasks related to service delivery and data collection. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic approach to ensure the well-being and safety of those seeking assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Possession (or near completion) of relevant tertiary qualifications in the psychology, social work or human services field
- Current driver’s licence, Blue Card and evidence of Covid Vaccination (or medical exemption)
- National Police Check upon successful offer of position.
- Knowledge An understanding of gender-based violence risk assessment, trauma informed practice, safety planning, crisis support, DFV counselling, system advocacy and case management;
- Working knowledge of or the ability to acquire understanding of the Domestic & Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and knowledge of court and legislative proceedings as they relate to the Act (Desirable)
- Well-developed experience and skills in counselling and therapeutic support
- Knowledge and skills to ensure the provision of trauma informed services to clients.
- Knowledge and skills to ensure the provision of culturally, gender and age-appropriate services to clients.
- Ability to work within the philosophy, objectives and policies of the organisation including: Working within a feminist framework, Working as a member of the staff team & Utilising consultative and collaborative processes
