About the Section
The Professional Entry and Rural Training (PERT) Section is responsible for:
- Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program, which aims to improve the recruitment and retention of medical, nursing, dental and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia through supporting the delivery of rural health clinical training to health students by universities. It includes support for:
- rural clinical schools
- university departments of rural health
- dental faculties offering extended rural placements
- rural health clubs
- the Northern Territory Medical Program and
- the regional training hubs which are components of the Integrated Rural Training Pipeline for Medicine
- The Murray-Darling Medical Schools Network which consists of five rurally based medical school programs in the Murray-Darling region of New South Wales and Victoria. The Network's first programs started in 2021, enabling students to undertake the majority of their training in rural and regional communities.
- Medical schools policy, including education portfolio liaison on
- medical Commonwealth Supported Places
- medical graduate supply and health workforce need
The PERT Section is looking for APS 6 and APS 5 applicants to undertake grants and Program Management responsibilities for the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program and associated expansions.
Key Duties
- Overseeing the establishment, implementation, and administration of recurrent and capital works grants;
- Managing grants variations;
- Seeking legal advice on grants matters;
- Stakeholder relationship management, both external and internal;
- Working with Department of Social Services to manage grants matters;
- Assess progress reports and work with the team to identify potential Program Management, implementation and compliance issues;
- Contribute to section corporate management, planning and reporting processes; and
- Other duties in the administration of programs managed by the section, as required.
