Your Role
As a Grounds and Maintenance Officer, your role is responsible for the upkeep of the Grounds and Maintenance requirements of this beautiful heritage listed Retirement Village comprised of 65 independent living units.
Your key responsibilities include:
Upkeep of Grounds
- The bulk of the role will be to perform all gardening duties e.g. mowing, edging, hedging, leaf blowing, planting and lawn management.
- Maintain the cleanliness of village exterior e.g. stairwells, pathways, decking, and building surrounds in a neat, tidy and presentable condition.
- Maintain the garden equipment and supplies arranging replacement/repair when necessary.
Maintenance
- Action general maintenance requests for the village and residents on a weekly basis, triaging requests and escalating to the village manager/external contractors ie electrical, plumbing etc as required.
- Manage garbage disposal including skip bins and general refuse and recycling.
Administration
- Assist with the development of the annual maintenance schedule
- Report on any hazards to the Retirement Village Manager.
Your Attributes
We're looking for a person who is known for their ability to:
- Take accountability for getting the work completed with a 'can do' attitude
- Show initiative to resolve the day-to-day problems associated with this type of work and escalate to the Village Manager as required.
- Experience in a similar role and proven ability to plan tasks applying a coordinated and methodical approach to manage day to day tasks
- Demonstrate a positive attitude showing care and empathy to the elderly.

Role Requirements
- Current Police Screening Certificate
- Certificate III or equivalent experience in a related area and/or A trade Qualification in the building industry e.g. landscaping, carpentry/building (desirable)
- Demonstrated relevant experience managing large Grounds and Maintenance duties
- A genuine interest in the elderly with a personable approach and desire to provide services that enhance the lives of our residents.
- Current Queensland Driver's Licence and vehicle (mileage claimable)
- Basic computer and mobile device skills
