About the role - We are seeking a Grounds and Maintenance Officer with a passion for maintaining our beautiful, expansive Grounds and buildings and who is keen to be part of our very hardworking team.
Taking on a Grounds and Maintenance Officer position at St Thomas More would afford you all the necessary PPE equipment, machinery and tools required for the job. This is an opportunity to bring your maintenance and ‘green thumb gardening’ skills to life.

The role of the Grounds and Maintenance Officer, working under the general direction of the Principal is to support the operational requirements of the School by assisting in all aspects of the development, maintenance and presentation of School Building and Grounds for use by the School community, including visitors, parents, students, and staff, and to actively promote a good first impression of the School to the general public. Inherent in this position is the ability to do bending and heavy lifting of goods, safely handle organic and chemical pesticides and sprays, undertake general building and grounds maintenance and operation of machinery and equipment, and legally operate a motor vehicle. These are regular routine tasks essential to the efficient and effective management of the Grounds and Maintenance Officer role.

Qualifications and requirements:
- Experience working in a Grounds and Maintenance Officer position is advantageous
- Undertake Student Protection Training
- Undertake BCE Mandatory Workplace Health and Safety Training
- A degree of flexibility with hours is desirable as there may be occasions when extra hours will be required to cover other staff on leave or assist with special events.
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
