We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and state-wide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.About the roleWard 1 East consists of nine acute mental health beds, co-located with eight addiction medicine detox beds. These beds support consumers that benefit from a smaller acute, but low dependency therapeutic environment. 1 East, Mental Health and Addiction Medicine unit is operated in collaboration with our State-wide Services team, incorporating Turning Point Drug and Alcohol Service. The Allied Health Group facilitator will embed discipline specific therapies into a suite of recovery focussed activities primarily in the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) inpatient setting. A Group Facilitator in an AOD detox unit plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness of group therapy sessions and the overall well-being of patients undergoing detox. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering therapeutic interventions and activities/ group program for consumers as individuals and in groups.About youTo be successful in this role you will possess:EssentialEither:

• Approved degree in Art Therapy or other qualification approved for membership of The Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Therapies Association (ANZACATA) or;
• Approved degree in Recreational therapy or other qualification approved by Australian Recreational Therapy Association (ARTA)
• Experience facilitating group therapy sessions, conducting assessments, and working with individuals with substance use disorders
• Ability to apply discipline specific professional knowledge and judgment in the provision of creative/ recreational group facilitation
• Ability to contribute to and deliver an efficient and effective creative/ recreation model of service to consumers on the adult acute mental health/ AOD service
• Ability in the delivery of therapeutic group activities
• Knowledge of group therapy theories, techniques, and dynamics, including facilitation skills, group process, stages of group development, and strategies for managing group interactions
• Knowledge and the ability to provide effective interventions with consumers with mental health concerns, co-occurring substance use and trauma
• Demonstrate a commitment to work with consumers, carers and families within a recovery framework
• Experience in working with consumers with mental illness and co- occurring disorder
• Ability to assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of group interventions for the adult mental health/ AOD population
• Ability to work autonomously and to work within a multidisciplinary team
• A demonstrated commitment to learning through analysis of own performance, engaging in clinical supervision and professional development, and a commitment to applying new knowledge to practice
• To possess good interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to prepare and deliver written and verbal reports of a high standards
• Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of a high standard

Desirable

• Post graduate qualifications in addiction, mental health or a related field
• Experience working in the AOD field or additional certifications in addiction counselling or group therapy are highly regarded.
