Position: Group Manager of Economic Development and Investment

Our Economic Development and Investment group plays a pivotal role in driving economic and business growth, strategic partnerships, and innovation initiatives that propel our city forward.

As the Group Manager of Economic Development and Investment, you will be a key member of our Senior Leadership team, reporting directly to the General Manager of Advocacy, Major Projects, and Economic Development. Leading a talented team of professionals across three business units, you will provide visionary and strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of our Economic Development goals.

You will have the incredible opportunity to play a vital role in development of the economic framework for Redland City Council to be utilised in the years to come.

  • Developing and implementing economic strategies: In this role, you'll be responsible for crafting both short and long-term strategies aimed at fostering economic growth within Redlands Coast. This involves analysing current economic trends, identifying opportunities for development, and formulating actionable plans to achieve our objectives.
  • Leading and managing projects: As the Group Manager of Economic Development and Investment, you'll oversee a variety of projects aimed at driving growth and innovation in our city. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding teams, managing resources effectively, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. You'll need to be a leader willing to get in and work with your team, inspire collaborate and lead from the front.
  • Building partnerships: Building strong relationships with stakeholders and helping to story tell the economic vision of projects is essential for the success of our Economic Development initiatives. This includes government agencies, local businesses, community organisations, and other key stakeholders. By fostering collaborative partnerships, you'll be able to leverage resources, expertise, and support to advance our Economic Development goals and maximise our impact.
  • Providing expert advice: As a key member of the Senior Leadership team, you'll be called upon to provide expert advice on Economic Development matters to senior leadership and elected officials. This involves staying across industry trends, conducting thorough analysis, and offering strategic recommendations to inform decision-making processes.
  • Driving continuous improvement: Continuous improvement is essential for maintaining the effectiveness and sustainability of our Economic Development programs. In this role, you'll be tasked with identifying areas for improvement, implementing process enhancements, and optimising resource allocation to ensure that our initiatives remain innovative, efficient, and financially sustainable over the long term.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Economic Development or related fields, showcasing your ability to lead and inspire teams toward achieving strategic objectives.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships and driving positive outcomes with diverse stakeholders, highlighting your capacity to collaborate effectively and leverage partnerships for success.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, demonstrating your ability to think critically and develop forward-thinking strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, emphasizing your proficiency in conveying complex ideas, facilitating dialogue, and fostering a culture of teamwork.
  • A passion for driving change and making a difference in the community, illustrating your commitment to creating tangible impact and driving meaningful progress.
  • Current “C” Class driver's license, ensuring your ability to travel as needed for the role's responsibilities.

  • Applicants will be required to complete a criminal history check.
