The Company
Perseus Mining Limited is a dual listed (ASX/TSX) gold miner, developer, and explorer whose activities are focused on the African continent. The Perseus Group operates three gold mines: the Edikan Gold Mine in Ghana, and the Sissingué and Yaouré Gold Mines in Côte d'Ivoire. The Business Growth Team is also active in the development of the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania and the Meyas Sand Gold Project in Sudan. Perseus is implementing a growth strategy designed to maintain the Perseus Group as a 500,000-ounce per year gold producer from 3-4 mines with a 10-year mine life.
The Role
The Group Metallurgist will be responsible for supporting the operational teams to achieve performance targets and for improving the capability of the operations. This includes providing a structured approach to formulating, evaluating, and executing operational studies, optimisation projects and business planning. The right candidate will use their skills and creativity to identify appropriate solutions to technical challenges, and work collaboratively across the operations, upskilling and mentoring national workforces.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate/conduct or participate in project reviews, hazard analyses, safe design practices, constructability reviews and risk assessments to support operational improvement
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations to aid in achieving business improvement objectives and establishing best practices across the group
- Provide technical input into the operations of the processing plant to ensure that budget and forecast production targets, as well as operating and capital cost targets, are set, monitored, and achieved
- Coordinate and review plant improvements and optimisation of the metallurgical processes
- Develop project execution plans with site teams that clearly define objectives, milestones, responsibilities, and deliverables
- Support site teams by analysing, testing, and refining results for enhanced efficiency
- A specific planning focus for this role requires linking future process production to tailings storage capacity, including project budgeting for facility construction and stage lifts, delivery approach, and compliance systems
- Assist with the project evaluation, implementation planning and execution for site improvement projects.
Skills & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, majoring in Metallurgy (or similar)
- A minimum of 15 years’ of experience in previous mineral processing roles
- Demonstrated ability in identifying and managing process improvement opportunities and driving improvement projects to successful implementation
- Willingness to travel to site at least once per Quarter
- High attention to detail in problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Self-driven leadership, collaborative communication, and strong reporting and interpersonal skills
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills with a strong data analysis capability
- Relevant experience in operating, managing, or designing a gold processing plant will be advantageous.

This position is based in Perseus’s Subiaco office, with a corporate team of roughly 50 employees and growing. Having a small corporate team allows for close interactions across all departments and levels of the business.
