We are seeking a Guide Team Leader to join our dynamic team and lead a group of trail guides on an unforgettable outdoor adventure across Spicers Scenic Rim Trail.
About Spicers Scenic Rim Trail
Millions of years in the making, 20 years of dreaming & 7 years of planning saw the unprecedented opening of the 75km Spicers Scenic Rim Trail in April 2020. A first of its kind in Queensland and an eco-tourism experience that is getting global attention. Spicers Scenic Rim Trail offers guided walks exploring the diverse beauty of the Scenic Rim Region.
Here's what you'll do
- Manage the casual trail guides and set them up to guide small groups on multi-day hikes through the Scenic Rim;
- Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure the team's success;
- Lead SRT tours delivering accurate, engaging & informative interpretation on a range of topics;
- Assist in the Training and Coaching of all guides to develop their levels of interpretation, risk management, time management and understanding of all logistical aspects of SRT guiding;
- Assist and lead training programs to all team members in trail clearing, evacuation procedures, equipment and 4WD use when required;
- Uses first aid training to respond to minor or emergency situations and able to create this awareness and skill in team members;
- Help your team in the daily operations at the camps including maintenance, hosting and housekeeping;
- Share your passion for flora and fauna with the team and participants.
- Identify and interpret local plant and animal life, enhancing the educational aspect of guided walks;
- Foster positive relationships with participants, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience.
This is how you’ll know you’re right for this role
- Minimum 3 years guiding experience and/or experience in emergency services, conservation or relatable field;
- Proven experience in leading outdoor activities, with a focus on hiking and guided walks;
- Strong leadership and team management skills;
- Excellent outdoor adventure skills, including navigation and first aid certification;
- A deep appreciation for and knowledge of local flora and fauna;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays;
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
The Catch / Good Part
- This is a seasonal contract ie. 9 months fixed term from March-December;
- There will be employment opportunities across the retreats in the off season, should you not like to enjoy an extended break;
- This position is not for the faint hearted, outdoor adventure skills are as important as leadership and management.
