Box Hill golf club is a picturesque 18-hole private members club situated in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Head Mechanic to join our golf course maintenance team. This role is responsible for maintaining all the golf course machinery and equipment, that is used to ensure all our turf services are in excellent playing conditions all year round.
Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent, you will be an enthusiastic individual that will be hands-on in the daily maintenance as well as being involved in planning the replacement programs for plant and equipment. Experience in golf and turf machinery is advantageous but not essential with full training provided, recently qualified mechanics are encouraged to apply for this position as you will become an integral part of the management team running your own workshop.
Duties will include:- Maintaining and repairing golf course machinery and turf equipment including golf course mowers - greens, fairways, rough, trim & surrounds, golf utility vehicles, aerators, turf sprayers, bunker rakes, tractors & golf carts.
- Fault finding, running diagnostics, and repairing electrical & hydraulic systems in machinery.
- Welding and light fabrication.
- Performing general on golf course maintenance mowing jobs when required.
- Maintain accurate machinery service and maintenance records.
- Maintain a clean workshop and apply WHS standards & practices.
- Working well in a team environment.
- Communicating well with other team members.
- Available to work weekdays & weekends on a rotating roster.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Completion of a Certificate 3 in Mechanics industry qualification or related experience.
- Industry experience and knowledge in maintaining and repairing, diesel- and petrol-powered motors.
- Physical capability to perform manual work.
- An interest in the golf industry would be an advantage.
- A team player who is a self-starter can work effectively managing their workload
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work efficiently.
- Experience with cylindrical mowers an advantage but not essential
- Attention to detail, can use initiative and has the ability to problem solve.
Applicants will be required to work 38 hours per week with great flexibility in starting times. Additional overtime hours on a rotational weekend roster will be required.
