We are seeking a Head of Department - Junior Secondary to deliver on our vision of Real Opportunities, Real Outcomes, Real Futures for creative and critical thinkers. This is a temporary full-time position until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.
About Us:
Balmoral State High School was established in 1958. Over many decades this great secondary school has provided the education thousands of students have needed to begin their careers or move on to further study. Graduates have access to the full range of post-school options - tertiary study, training or the workforce. We are situated on ten hectares in Morningside, approximately 6km from the Brisbane CBD.

About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Enact the school's vision and values to ensure the further evolution of a high-quality professional learning community developing students as futures-focused, global citizens.
- Lead a dynamic and forward-thinking student engagement team working with other Heads of Department to maximise student learning days and advance our commitment to student learning growth.
- Enrich the development and scalability of high-quality teaching and learning aligned to responsive and effective pedagogies.
- Lead Junior Secondary data analysis to systematically deliver aspirational academic learning targets across Junior Secondary.
- Develop capability of all teachers to deliver high quality and responsive learning experiences.
- Strategically build and sustain productive partnerships with students, parents, external agencies and local community groups to maximise authentic experiences for students.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources associated across Junior Secondary.
Highly desirable skills and experience;
- Solid understanding of current educational research
- Commitment to continual learning and development
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams to delivery curriculum outcomes
