Appointment Pool

Fremantle Language Development Centre (LDC) is seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

We are seeking self-motivated applicants who can use their initiative and work independently as well as work collaboratively within a team. As a welcoming and supportive School Officer, you will be the first point of contact for our diverse school community, building and maintaining relationships with students, staff, carers, and the wider community.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently within a highly supportive and professional team. In addition, the ability to be flexible and deliver outcomes while working to deadlines in a complex and fast-paced environment will be highly desiarable.  

The suitable applicants will assist with general administrative and finance duties such as the preparation of correspondence, maintaining student records, faults management, records management, receipting, banking, reconciliations, and month end. You will support the communication, promotion and marketing of our school, including creating, preparing and publishing the school newsletter. You may assist other members of the school administration team with maintaining school databases, records, and management information systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date.

Familiarity with DOE policies and processes would be desirable and ideally being proficient in the Microsoft Office suite. Experience and an excellent working knowledge of SIS, RM Finance, RM Billing and HRMIS are required.

Fremantle LDC is an Independent Public School that provides high quality specialist education for Kindergarten to Year 3 students who have been identified as having Developmental Language Disorder. We consist of a school and a state-wide Outreach service and provide targeted, intensive language and academic intervention in a supportive environment that focuses on the social, emotional and academic growth of students. Our Fremantle LDC school is located across three sites where facilities are shared with local primary schools, enabling students from the LDC to benefit from interaction and inclusion with mainstream students. The main campus is co-located with Caralee Community School situated in Willagee. The school also has satellite classes at Beeliar Primary School and Bull Creek Primary School.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively. 
  • Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
  • Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
