About the Role:
The Head of Department (Wellbeing through Learning Project) through Learning project will have a focus on planning, teaching and school culture activities that support increases in student performance in school EIA areas as well as student agency and engagement.
Wellbeing through Learning project will have a focus on planning, teaching and school culture activities that support increases student performance in school EIA areas as well as student agency and engagement. You will be asked to lead within the school and beyond with persuasion, clarity, system thinking approaches and through teacher collective effort. This is a very busy school, with a very diverse student population. There are high expectations with regard to leadership behaviours and the collaborative functions within the school. The following KSAs will be used to assess the candidates:
Leadership that demonstrates coherent replicable processes or systematic improvement steps that sustains productive and active relationships by:
- Shared values and vision of the school underpin improvement agendas - School culture enhancement from current to preferred underpins all work.
- Clear articulation of the planned work through visual models is evident
- System thinking principles are driving the approach to change - e.g. Complicated/ complex tools - task assignments, signposts, artefacts of change, design thinking.
Persuasion, influencing and negotiation approaches are preferred over directive leadership styles in change management.
Leadership coaching, mental model development and specific leadership behaviours PD are a regular facet of the school's operations. All significant decisions are made through our leadership council process and therefore the successful applicant will have significant input into the direction of the school. Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
