About the Role:
As an instructional leader, the successful applicant will be focused on developing teacher teams who are problem-solvers with decision-making agility and risk-taking skills. In a busy and rapidly growing school, YSSC HODs are required to lead and develop their own teams with confidence and resilience.
The Food Specialisations/Early Career Teacher Development/Senior Schooling HOD at Yarrabilba SSC has responsibility for the year 7-12 Food Specialisations curriculum, Senior Schooling and the Early Career Teacher Development Program, co-ordinating the new and beginning teachers mentoring program and leading/co-ordinating professional development for early career staff. The HOD in this role may be required to assist with other subject/administrative areas if needed.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
* Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
* Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
* Be futures oriented and strategic.
* Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
